SANTA MONICA, CA – The award-winning Oceana Santa Monica, LXR Hotels & Resorts is set to unveil La Monique, a design-forward French brasserie, on October 11. Poised to redefine Santa Monica’s culinary landscape, La Monique is an intimate jewel box where timeless French technique, Hollywood glamour and Riviera spirit come together, delivering a dining experience as elegant as its oceanside setting, just steps from the Pacific.

The project marks a new culinary era for Oceana Santa Monica, owned by JRK Property Holdings (JRK), and represents a strategic partnership with 34th Floor, Schulte Hospitality Group’s F&B division. Together, the partners bring depth of expertise in lifestyle dining and guest-centric innovation, positioning La Monique as a signature destination for both locals and global travelers.
“La Monique reflects our vision for Oceana as a gathering place that is as relevant to the Santa Monica community as it is to our guests,” says Alex Landy, executive vice president, JRK. “This new restaurant marks a transformative moment for the hotel, a fresh chapter that elevates the property while offering guests and locals a truly immersive and memorable dining experience.”
Design Inspired by the Muse

Designed by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, La Monique is unapologetically bold – feminine in spirit, refined in style, and vibrant in flavor. Inspired by Hollywood Regency, the design layers jewel tones of emerald, rust and sapphire with lustrous finishes and tonal contrasts. Plush velvets, hand-crafted straw marquetry, reflective ceilings, and a curated art collection featuring both international names and local talents add depth and narrative throughout. Every detail was chosen for its texture, tone and emotional impact, creating an environment that is both intimate and cinematic. Signature touches – the glowing backlit bar, sculptural cast glass wall borders and intricate marquetry – invite guests to pause, explore and delight in a sensorial experience that unfolds moment by moment. La Monique honors Santa Monica’s past while infusing European sophistication and a hint of old-world decadence, crafting a space as memorable as the cuisine it frames.
Celebrating the Art of French Cooking

At the helm of La Monique is Chef David Fricaud, a Top Chef France semi-finalist whose career spans two decades across Michelin-starred kitchens worldwide. The restaurant’s menu is a love letter to French brasserie traditions, anchored by a dedicated steak program featuring A5 wagyu and dry-aged cuts, abundant seafood towers, and signatures like La Monique’s Le Grand Poulet with truffle jus. Additional menu highlights include Linguine Vongole with little neck clams and white clam sauce; A5 Wagyu Ichibo Cut from Yamaguchi, Japan; and Le Plateau Royal featuring New Orleans shrimp, raw oysters, raw clams, lobster, shrimp cocktail, crab cocktail and caviar. Guests can also enjoy lighter fare such as Tuna Carpaccio with lemon, parsley and garlic; Escargot Poppers with garlic herb crème fraiche; and Mini French Onion Grilled Cheese featuring Brie, Tomme de Savoie and mushroom brioche.

The cocktail program mirrors the Riviera lifestyle: elegant, playful, and transportive, with signatures such as the Miss Monique (a coconut oil-washed and clarified Tito’s Cosmopolitan finished with house-made cherry-nutmeg foam and rose water mist) and the Message in The Bottle (coffee-infused Zacapa 23 Rum and Averna Amaro, banana liquor, house-made cinnamon syrup and chocolate bitters). The extensive wine list celebrates French producers alongside curated selections from Italy, Portugal, and California.
A Distinctive Destinaton

More than a dining room, La Monique is a social landmark where evenings unfold with ease, connections flourish, and luxury feels effortless. Whether for a romantic dinner, a celebratory gathering, or a nightcap, the restaurant redefines what it means to dine oceanside in Los Angeles.
La Monique is open nightly for dinner: Sunday through Saturday from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. Reservations can be made on Opentable or by calling (310) 656-6000. Full buyouts and curated tasting menus are available for private celebrations or corporate gatherings. More information: lamoniquerestaurant.com.
